Sport is integral to the American way of life. Whether you’re an average joe or a multimillionaire, there is no immunity to the love of the game. Be that game basketball, baseball or football, some of the finest actors of our generation follow their favorite teams with passion. The NFL is the biggest sport in the nation however and as such there are flocks of celebrities who support teams all throughout the league. Let’s take a look at some of the most high-profile celebs who follow their NFL teams through thick and thin.
Paul Rudd – Kansas City Chiefs
For all of their success in recent years, it was hard being a Chiefs fan for decades before. They went over 50 years without a Super Bowl appearance and even went a solid 15 without a playoff appearance between the 70s and 80s. You can call Paul Rudd many things— heartthrob, America’s sweetheart, box office gold— but you cannot call him a Glory hunter.
The ‘Ant Man’ actor moved to a suburb of Kansas City called Overland Park in his youth and has supported his hometown team ever since. As a longtime superfan, it is not out of the ordinary to see him attending games at Arrowhead. He even appeared on the field following their Super Bowl wins in 2020 and 2023 respectively alongside his son, Jack. He even recently narrated a documentary on the teams most recent Super Bowl run for the NFL Network. Super Bowl odds have the Chiefs among the favorites this year and we could once again see Rudd rubbing shoulders with Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes in celebration.
Ice Cube – Las Vegas Raiders
Despite the Raiders having the highest number of relocations among any other team in the NFL, rapper Ice Cube has remained a loyal supporter through it all. The Raiders once called LA home and having grown up in the City of Angels, Cube was hooked from early. He has said he will go wherever the team goes and even helped produce a documentary about them called ‘Straight outta LA’ for ESPN. He has been seen at games both in California and Las Vegas since their relocation to Sin City. The self-professed ‘Leader of the Raider nation’ has dedicated songs to his boyhood team and fans do not come as die hard as Ice Cube.
Mark Wahlberg – New England Patriots
To tell the truth, the title of most famous Patriots fan could have gone to any of three mega stars. Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon and his childhood/filmmaking buddy Ben Affleck are arguably Boston’s three biggest exports and each one of them is a passionate Pats fan. Wahlberg however pips them to the post for naming rights on this list due to his appearances at games. He has been seen at several of the Patriots’ Super Bowl games (and there has been a lot) and has struck up a friendship with legendary Quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady has even said that Marky Mark would be his choice to play him in a movie on the seven-time Super Bowl winner’s career. The Patriots have some of the most passionate fans in all of sport and the former Academy Award nominee is among them.
Samuel L Jackson – Atlanta Falcons
Celebrity fans can’t get much bigger than the highest grossing actor of all time. Although he was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Tennessee, the ‘Nick Fury’ actor actually has roots in Atlanta stretching back to his college days some 50 years ago. He worked in the concessions stand for the Falcons during his time at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and has been a fan ever since.
Come rain or shine, Jackson is a regular at the Mercedez-Benz stadium and most notably was in attendance for their agonizing overtime loss in the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots back in 2017. Loss aside however, it was no doubt a dream for Jackson to watch the team he once sold hot dogs for make it all the way to the big one.
Michael Phelps – Baltimore Ravens
Last but not least it is arguably the most famous Olympian in American history. Athletes are not limited to just their field of expertise and the 23-time Olympic gold medallist has long been a fan of his hometown team. Born and raised in Baltimore, Phelps has been a regular on the sidelines at the M&T Bank stadium and has even led the team out onto the field on multiple occasions.
He counts Ravens legend Ray Lewis as a close friend and once snubbed a reporter at a press conference for wearing Pittsburgh Steelers’ gear, the Ravens’ divisional rivals. The Olympian has purple running through his veins and since his retirement from swimming he has been able to watch Lamar Jackson do his thing even more.
